MAIN BRIDGE
Welcome to Deck 01 of the USS Galaxy,  Located at the top of the ship on deck 1, the bridge is the control center for the entire ship. All primary operations and command decisions are made on the bridge.

The bridge is typically staffed with several officers around the clock to ensure that the ship is functioning properly.

The bridge of the Galaxy was designed to provide maximum efficiency in design.   It is accessable by two turbolifts on the port and starboard aft sections.   Also accessable from the bridge is the Captain's  and Executive Officer's Ready rooms and the Conference lounge.

Located in the center of the bridge is the command section, which provides seating for the captain (or commanding officer on duty), executive officer and typically the ships counselor.

Directly in front of the command area is the conn and operations stations.  The conn station (or sometimes referred to as helm) is located on the right and is directly responsible for the navigation and control of the ship.

Next is the Operations station located on the left in front of the command chairs.  The operations manager's job is to coordinate shipboard activities such as sensor allocation, communications, power distribution and management, computer access and away team duties.  The operations manager is also in charge of coordinating launching and dockings of auxiliary spacecraft.  Both the Conn and Ops positions are manned at all times.

Located behind the command area are two additional primary stations combined into one, tactical and security operations. The tactical officer is responsible for maintaining the defensive systems of the Defender.  He or she is able to directly control shields, phasers, torpedoes, and other defensive systems.  While not always manned at all times, the security operations station is used to control security unit aboard the ship or on an away team.

The Security Operations station can be easily configured for other purposes such as
mission operations.  It can be used to moniter current mission status, objectives, communications, away teams, and the time line.

Along the back wall of the bridge are more bridge stations.   On the port side of the back wall are the 2 science stations.   These stations have direct control to ships sensors as well as access to the computer systems on board.  The role of the bridge science officers is to also help coordinate onboard science personnel and operations.

Directly opposite of the science stations is the engineering station located on the starboard side of the back wall.   This station allows personnel to moniter virtually all engineering functions within the ship; including warp and impulse output, matter/antimatter injectors, power distribution, and subpace field geometry.  The station is also used to help coordinate damage control teams and environmental support.

Located at the very front of the bridge is the main holographic viewscreen.  At the captain's command, the viewscreen can be activated as used for a number of functions, such as montering visual objects, displaying information, or its primary purpose of communication with other individuals.

From a outer view you can see the bridge Module and that it has been upgraded to include a Executive Officer's ready room on the bridge level.  This module can be replaced for upgrades.
